Sir Ranulph Fiennes:
As a patron for this North Pole expedition, it is my pleasure to see this book in print. Plan D depicts a modern-day polar story which, although it didn’t go according to plan, is worth telling to understand why this happened. The team’s mission was to report back what they witnessed during the expedition as they persevered to get onto the Arctic Ocean and to reach the Geographic North Pole. This book is part of that report, describing and illustrating what they witnessed and, most importantly, what is happening around the polar region.
However, the book is much more than a simple report. It tells of the need for resilience in the face of adversities and coping in a crisis… highly relevant as we all travel through the current COVID crisis. It might even help you achieve your own ‘North Pole’! Sadly, the climate crisis is much bigger than all of this, and to this end Plan D raises awareness of the desperate plight of our planet.
